As an 65 year old, my first hi-fi speaker cables was those black and red cables and that color was the only thing that distinguish them from the lamp cord! And I’m talking about serious setups with Sansui electronics and Marantz speakers! And jet, today I have some anaconda size cables on my contemporary equipment!😂

I love my Ultra Evolution bookshelves! IMO SVS hit a homerun with the new Ultra series.

Would you recommend this sub if you have a pair of electro stats (specifically magnepans lrs). I wonder if it’s too much or or if the amount of air moving from the sub could damage the speakers. Thanks

The usual 2 ways have huge comprimises about bass, and if they scale woofer bigger then directivity suffers, I guess horn can be crossed lower so woofer could be bigger but then you got narrow dispersion pattern which might sound smaller.

Luckily if you have a Denon, they got rid of the lame small/large terninology that confuses people.

Denon for sure (and I think Marantz) finally got rid of the lame small/large terminology in their menus. Now we have frequencies and crossovers specified. It's much clearer and beginners no longer say things like "but my speakers are big, why set to small?"

For hard rock fans, try Queensryche Empire. It's really good.

First rule. Low heat. Second rule wall outlet power into at least 4 ohms. Ab power for dynamics if you like any dynamics. Heavier the better. Think Michi m8 or Mac 1.25kw. Both I own. After owning tube , digital. Class a , triode. You name it. Will never replace either. Great channel.

As a Depeche Mode fan, I too agree Music for the Masses in their best album. I have it on SACD.

Love your top 10 list as I owns all of them and listen to them regularly. But for me, my taste, my humble opinion 😅, my #2 spot right after Pink Floyd DSM is Supertramp Crime of the Century. To me it’s a non-skip album with a story telling from the beginning to the end. I’ll make sure to listen to your top 10 keeping in mind what you have said about them so I audition them differently . And for that, I thank you! Keep the good work and stay safe.

Great selections Gene. So difficult to narrow down to just 10, but some notable worthy omissions, AC/DC - Back In Black, Boston self titled, Fleetwood Mac - Rumours or even their self titled album is amazing from start to finish.

They’re going for $2800 on sale. You have to catch them though. Happens a few times a year.

@Audioholics, I’m in the process of updating my new television set and sound system, I’ve been living in an apartment for the past 5 years, but now I’m moving to a new and spacious house first week of July 2024, at the present moment I have a 55 Inch Hisense TV that passes through Dolby Atmos signal (when available), I use a firestick 4K max plugged in the eArc HDMI input that sends signal wirelessly to a set of 2 echo studio speakers and an Amazon subwoofer, it’s a 2.1 sound system (760 watts pick)I also use an Apple TV box 4K plugged in a different HDMI port, in other words I use the firestick tv as a soundbar, good enough to watch movies with immersive sound and listening to music in 24 bits in a small flat. Now, for my new bigger house, I’m contemplating a 77 Inch LG G4 TV and a Samsung 990D soundbar. I know these soundbars are cheap in comparison to HiFi speaker systems, what are your thoughts and do you have any recommendations, also do you know if WiSA technology is capable of streaming lossless audio via Wifi? LG, Sony and Hisense offer WiSA streaming capabilities over the internet in their premium television sets.
